We Honor Veterans

Hospice of Guernsey is a proud partner of the We Honor Veterans program. This is a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs. It focuses on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and grateful acknowledgment.

Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer Program

Volunteers are essential to the delivery of quality hospice care. Hospice of Guernsey, Inc.’s Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer Program builds on that by pairing veteran patients with a volunteer who shares their common language and experiences.

Veteran volunteers have a unique ability to create a bond with and support other Veterans who are terminally ill. Veteran volunteers may assist with:

• Providing companionship through
  • Conversation
  • Playing card/board games
• Provide respite for caregivers
• Participate in Veteran pinning ceremonies
