Volunteer
Volunteers are at the heart of hospice care.
Volunteers provide companionship, a listening ear and relief for caregivers as well as other services. Hospice of Guernsey, Inc. requires all potential volunteers to complete “Volunteer Classes”. Volunteer Classes are held two times each year – usually once in the spring and once in the fall.
Upon completion of Volunteer training, each new volunteer is interviewed to focus on your desires and what you would like to do as a volunteer for hospice. There are several different functions in which a volunteer can help.
Direct Care Volunteers interact directly with our patients and their families. Volunteers provide caring compassion by holding a hand, playing cards, talking about sports, running errands, staying with patients so family can enjoy a well-deserved evening out, or whatever may be needed to provide help and support.
Office Volunteers provide invaluable assistance to our office staff. Because of volunteer help, hospice office employees are able to focus more of their time on patient related office functions. Volunteers copy forms, assemble informational and admission packets, and help with mailings each month.
Fundraising Volunteers assist in our fundraising events by selling tickets or other goods.
Because Hospice of Guernsey, Inc. is a non-profit organization, fundraising is essential and our volunteers are invaluable.
If you would be interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact us by phone at 740-432-7440, or by email to Hospice of Guernsey Volunteer Coordinator.
