CHF
Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) is a chronic condition that affects the pumping ability of the heart. CHF specifically refers to the stage of heart failure where fluid builds up around the heart, causing it to pump inefficiently. This causes blood and other fluids to back up inside the lungs, abdomen, liver and lower extremities.
Signs that someone with CHF may be appropriate for hospice care include:
- Pain or discomfort with minimal activity
- Recurring symptoms, even when using medication
- Frequent hospitalizations
Hospice of Guernsey’s care can help with symptom management and improve the quality of life for both patient and family. We can help with both the physical and emotional stress of CHF.
